My trip to Buffalo, NY

I recently went to Buffalo on a personal trip to visit my partner’s hometown. I had already heard wonderful things about Buffalo, but it exceeded my expectations. Buffalo is a beautiful town, full of super nice people. Everyone I met was kind! I asked the locals what I should experience while I was there. I didn't get to everything, but that's what the next trip is for!

Buffalo Wall Murals

One thing I noticed right away is all the murals. There was art all over the place! There were a lot of painted buffalos to say the least! These murals are from all over the city. Hertel Ave, Elmwood Village, and Downtown Buffalo were some of the hotspots. Apparently this is a new trend in Buffalo, and one that I hope stays!

Buffalo in the Rain

It rained one night while I was there. My partner drove me around town while it drizzled. These turned out to be some of my favorite photos of the trip! I stuck my camera out of the car window and clicked away!

Canal Side

When I asked the locals where I should go on my trip, Canal Side was consistently one of the major points of attraction. I had a day to wander by myself, so I headed down there. The breeze was so pleasant coming off of the Niagara River. I took a stroll down to Unity Naval and Military Park. There were beautiful tributes to fallen soldiers from all the 20th Century wars. There were ships and aircraft on display as well.

Tift Nature Preserve

On my solo day, I also went to Tift Nature Preserve, which is just outside the city. I met a wonderful lil husky named Rain, and his super nice mama, Alyssa. He was so cute playing in the fresh grass! I was surprised how luscious it was only minutes from downtown. This park is one of many great places Buffalo offers to enjoy the outdoors.

Buffalo is Woke

There are a lot of great things about Buffalo, but one of the most notable for me was how woke the city as a whole is. Messages of love can be found everywhere, and there is a general sense of inclusivity.

Concert in the Park

We went to see a lovely Fleetwood Mac cover band in the park in Elmwood Village. This is a regular Tuesday event during the summer. Down a street called Bidwell Pkwy, they shut down the street and people bring chairs and blankets to listen to the music and picnic.

Food and Drinks

Buffalo has a nice selection of breweries. Drinking in Buffalo rivals that of us Charlestonians. However, they are open much later (4am). Some of them actually serve THC beverages, since weed is legal in NY. Best Buffalo Wings of my life! Shoutout to Beltline Brewery for those amazing wings!

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is just a quick ride away from Buffalo. We spent the day walking around the State Park. It's a truly magnificent view. AI says there are 757,500 gallons of water flowing over the falls per SECOND!
